Google Drive vs Office Web Apps: Presentations

Standard

In this final post of this series we take a quick look at the differences between Google Drive and Office Web Apps, we are looking at Presentations.

Presentations

The presentation is taken from Andrew Woodward’s @andrewwoody  session from the SharePoint Evolution conference in 2010 which has 1 slide that is heavily customised with animations.  We will take a look at how this runs in both versions and creating a new presentation as well.

Tests were preformed in Google Chrome on Windows 8, Google Drive and the Office Web Apps in SkyDrive Pro in Office 365.

Google Drive vs Office Web Apps: Spreadsheets

Standard

In the first post of this 3 part series we looked at how documents were handled in Google Drive and Office Web Apps.  In this post we are looking at spreadsheets.

spreadsheets

For this test I have created an Excel spreadsheet of the English Premier League with formulas and conditional formatting to help evaluate a page quickly.

As before the tests were preformed in Google Chrome on Windows 8 with Google Drive on the left and Office Web Apps on the right.

Google Drive vs Office Web Apps: Documents

Standard

In this 3 part series of blog posts we are going to compare how a Document, Spreadsheet and Presentation are viewed in both Google Drive and the Office Web Apps.

The tests were completed on the same machine and browser using Google Chrome.  The Office Web Apps were evaluated in SkyDrive Pro in Office 365.

Each test has an existing file uploaded but we also create a new one in the browser.

Documents

In this video we look at how a document that was created in Word 2010 can be viewed and edited.  We then look at how easy it is to create a new document in both versions.
